Tiller is a Charter School and does not charge tuition or admissions fees. Enrollment is limited by space as we have an average ratio of 16:1 with teacher assistants in the K-2 classrooms. Students are selected through a spring lottery and completed applications are due by February 7. The lottery will be held Friday, January 8. Applications received after this date are placed on a waiting list or fill spots available after the lottery. Once one of your children is enrolled your next child is automatically given priority in the subsequent years.

About Our Lottery:
At least two members of the community (who are not staff, Board members or parent at Tiller) will be present at the lottery for the purpose of drawing names, and checking to make sure that all procedures are conducted fairly and accurately.
All applications, along with required information that is listed on the back of the application that are received between Dec. 1st and Feb.5th will be eligible for the lottery drawing. All applications received after Feb. 5th will be placed at the end of the waiting list that is generated after the lottery in the order of which they are received. Siblings of currently enrolled students and children of employees will be noted on their applications.
An ID strip, for each completed applicant, will be placed in a “hat”. One at a time, a name will be pulled,logged by grade and marked off the list until every applicant has been drawn. Once this is done, any child who has a sibling or is a child of an employee will be placed at the top of the grade list in the order of which they were pulled.
From the grade list, each vacant spot will be filled with an applicant in order of how they were pulled. Once all open positions are filled the remaining students will create a waiting list in the order of how they were pulled. The waiting list will stay in effect until the end of the school year.
The parent/guardian of each applicant will be notified within two weeks of the status of their child’s application, whether they are enrolled or placed on the waiting list. If a position is offered and the parent/guardian declines, that position will offered to the next person on the waiting list.
Applications will be accepted throughout the school year, for the current year, even after the lottery has been completed.
Please note the following:
1. North Carolina guidelines state that for Kindergarten enrollment a child must be 5 years old on or before August 31st
2. No application will be included in the lottery unless all requested information has been turn in.
