Tiller School Board of Directors

Tiller School has a Board of Directors which set policy and govern the school.  They are parents and other people from the community who are interested in making Tiller School a wonderful experience for each child and their families.

The Board of Directors meets monthly, typically the third Wednesday of each month in the Assembly building.  Agendas are posted 10 days prior to the meeting in the main office. All meetings are open to the public and begin at 6:30.

Members are selected from candidates who apply for these voluntary positions at our end of year meeting.  They are elected for 2 or 3 year terms.  If you are interested in learning more about the board, or have questions or concerns, please contact the executive committee at: executivecommittee@tillerschool.org

Tiller School Board of Directors

TILLER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS

Ken Murphy    President
Ken Murphy succeeded his wife as a parent representing the interests of the Middle School on the Board. With the closing of the middle school he no longer had children at Tiller. A strong commitment to the ideals of education being provided in the community by an institution that is not run by the government, along with a deep respect for the other board members led Ken to remain on the board after closure of the middle school. Ken is currently serving as board president. When not involved in church or school related activities, Ken is involved in the local business community as well as the father of three teenage students on the county. Ken has served in community based organizations most of his adult life including Scouting, church, Jr. Achievement, etc.

Glenn Haworth    Vice President

Lynn Fulcher    Treasurer
Originally from California, I moved to North Carolina in 1986 and married in 1995. I have two daughters Katelyn and Kelsey, both who were former Tiller students. Since moving to North Carolina, I have worked in the television production field, both at Time Warner and Fox 8/14 in Morehead City. I am now semi-retired and enjoy working on a former farm down in Bettie. Our family sailed for two years around the Bahamas enjoying life and are now back in the normal swing of things. I delight in being involved in the Tiller School and feel blessed that my kids had the opportunity to spend time here. It feels like home.

Alicia Durham    Secretary
Alicia Kramer Durham has been a Biology, Anthropology, and History instructor for seven years at higher education institutions such as Carteret Community College, Craven Community College, Park University, and Coastal Carolina Community College. In addition to teaching in the classroom, she has embraced new technology by designing and facilitating several online classes. More importantly, she is the mother of a Tiller School student, Elizabeth, where she loves to volunteer.

Jackie Ramus
My name is Jackie Ramus, I am the Media Coordinator at Beaufort Elementary School, a K-5 Public School. I am married to Joe Ramus a researcher at Duke University's Marine Lab in Beaufort and we have one son, Aaron. I also have two stepsons, Seth a professor at Bowdoin College and Josh, and architect in Manhattan. Aaron attended Tiller for 4th and 5th grade (the first two years Tiller was a charter school).

Mark Fonseca
Dr. Mark Fonseca has been involved with Tiller School since its inception. He has served as has his wife, Dr. Carolyn Currin as Board president. They are parents of Sara, a 5th grader. Their older daughter also attended Tiller K-6 and is now in college. He heads the Long Term Planning committee and is fully participating in the campus expansion that is now underway. Although next year will be the first in many that he has not had a child in Tiller, he remains committed to the mission and vision of the school.
