Tiller School has a Board of Directors which sets policy and governs the school. They are parents and other people from the community who are interested in making Tiller School a wonderful experience for each child and their families.
The Board of Directors meets monthly, typically the second Tuesday of each month, in the Assembly building. Agendas are posted 10 days prior to the meeting in the main office. All meetings are open to the public and begin at 6:30.
Members are selected from candidates who apply for these voluntary positions at our end of year meeting. They are elected for 3 year terms. If you are interested in learning more about the board, or have questions or concerns, please contact the executive committee at:

TILLER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS
Glenn Haworth • President
I am a retired educator who last served as Principal at H.J. MacDonald Middle School in Craven County. I retired in December of 2001 with 31 years of service in public education in North Carolina. I first became associated with Tiller School when I was hired to open the Middle School component of Tiller School in April of 2004. I retired from that position in June of 2005 and returned as interim Director in January of 2006 when Ms. Jean Kruft left to take a position with the N.C. Office of Charter Schools. Since that time, I have served on the Tiller School Board of Directors as Vice President and President. My time on the Board of Directors expires at the end of this school year. It has been my great pleasure to work with Tiller School and I look forward to continuing my relationship with Tiller School in the years to come.
Lynn Fulcher • Treasurer
Originally from California, I moved to North Carolina in 1986. I have two daughters, Katelyn and Kelsey, both are former Tiller students. Since moving to North Carolina, I have worked in the television production field, both at Time Warner and Fox 8/14 in Morehead City. I am now semi-retired and enjoy working on a former farm down in Bettie. Our family sailed for two years around the Bahamas enjoying life and are now back in the normal swing of things. I delight in being involved in the Tiller School, and I feel blessed that my kids had the opportunity to spend time here. It feels like home.
Alicia Durham • Secretary
I have served on the Tiller Board for three years. I have been a biology, anthropology, and history instructor for nine years at higher education institutions such as Park University and Coastal Carolina Community College. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I have embraced new technology by designing and facilitating several online classes. More importantly, my daughter Elizabeth attends Tiller student, where I love to volunteer.
Jackie Ramus
My name is Jackie Ramus, I am the Media Coordinator at Beaufort Elementary School, a K-5 Public School. I am married to Joe Ramus a researcher at Duke University's Marine Lab in Beaufort and we have one son, Aaron. I also have two stepsons, Seth a professor at Bowdoin College and Josh, and architect in Manhattan. Aaron attended Tiller for 4th and 5th grade (the first two years Tiller was a charter school).

Jenny Pilcher
Serving on the Board of Directors for Tiller School interests me because I am excited about the changes ahead for our students on our campus. I want to be a part of the future of our wonderful educational community. I work as a social worker and as an income tax preparer during tax season. I have gained invaluable experience helping people learn to help themselves. I enjoy working with people and with numbers which has been a interesting combination that has served me well. I will use my talents in serving on the Tiller School Board. As the mother of two Tiller School students, I have a vested interest in helping our school serve our children in meeting Tiller's mission to become self-confident, self-motivated lifelong learners.
Charles Elliott
My family and I live in Otway, NC. We love the ocean and are engaged in just about every activity that can be done in and around it. My wife Kristie works at the Trinity Center in PKS, my teenage son attends East Carteret High School and my two daughters attend Tiller. I graduated UNCW with a BS in Marine Science and a minor in coastal ecology, later I attended ECU in order to get my high school science teaching certificate. I currently teach high school sciences at Cape Lookout High School in Morehead City. I enjoy serving on the Tiller Board of Directors because I am dedicated to helping the school grow while maintaining its excellent standards in student social and academic growth.
